Welcome
We are extremely proud of our school, which is in the heart of the community here in Chilton, a small town in the North-East of England. Chilton Academy occupies one of the largest sites of primary schools in County Durham. We are lucky enough to have an abundance of outdoor learning space and an impressive gymnasium, music room, science lab and fully-equipped stage in our beautiful school hall. We also have an allotment and expansive playing fields. We are proud of our heritage as an ex-mining town and we can even boast that the mineshaft is on our school field!
Our dedicated team have high ambitions for all pupils. We know our pupils well and the local area we serve. We are committed to raising aspirations and developing pupils’ self-belief that they can succeed in life. We have a bustling breakfast club which is open from 7.30am and after-school provision until 6pm each evening. We have clubs every night after school and sporting teams that practice too. We are at the heart of Chilton and dedicated to serving the community and becoming the hub of the town. We have a private nursery - Happy Times - on site and Go Well have their offices on site too. Our playing fields are home to Chilton Juniors each weekend. We also have secured funding for a Youth Club for KS2 pupils every Monday and Tuesday.
However our greatest asset, and one we are most proud of, is our wonderful children. They are friendly, confident pupils and are a pleasure to be around.
We warmly welcome visitors and hope you can come and see our amazing school yourself. Please call the office on 01388 720255 to arrange a visit.
