Rationale
At Chilton Academy, we recognise that Music holds a very special and unique place within the curriculum. The joy of playing an instrument and creating “pictures with sound” – whether as an individual, or a member of an ensemble – cannot be underestimated.
It is widely acknowledged that the study of Music develop the skills, attitudes and attributes that can support children to successfully learn across other subjects and, moreover, can help to build social and cultural values and understanding along the way.
You will see children use their voices, engage with a range of instruments – and explore the work of famous composers and artists of past and present, music and song of different genres and cultures – with a nod to those that are significant to the North East of England.
