Physical Education

At Chilton Academy we all enjoy being Physically Active

Rationale

The importance of Physical Education and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

At Chilton Academy, we believe Physical Education helps children to become responsible adults who are aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Physical fitness is an important component to leading a healthy lifestyle. The inclusion of regular fitness activity helps children maintain fitness, develop muscular strength and improve cardiovascular health. The participation in well taught physical education provides a positive influence on a children’s personality, character and self-esteem. In addition, the team sport enhances communication skills, and the skills required to get along and cooperate with other children of varying backgrounds and personalities. The teaching of Physical Education is essential to the development of motor skills and the enhancement of reflexes. Hand-eye coordination is improved, as well as good body movements, which helps in the development of a healthy body posture.

Through Physical Education, children will develop the skills needed to participate in a range of different sporting activities including: gymnastics, dance, striking and fielding games, invasion games and net and wall games.  They will grow into sports people who are fit and able.
