At Chilton Academy we are all Good Citizens
Rationale
At Chilton Academy, we believe PSHE helps our children to develop into well-rounded individuals. It gives children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. We aim to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are all part of growing up.
It is during PSHE that the children will develop the skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team-working and critical thinking in the context of three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world. They will learn about bullying, citizenship, drug education, healthy eating, physical activity, mental and emotional health, wellbeing, and sex and relationships.
PSHE learning opportunities take place as they arise in everyday situations and they are also discussed during specific lessons as well as in assemblies, circle time, collapsed curriculum days/weeks and other activities that enrich pupils’ experiences.
