Governor – Mr L Sheard

My name is Luke Sheard and I am a teacher here at Chilton Academy.

I qualified as a teacher in 2006 and have worked in a range of year groups in schools in Derbyshire, Sheffield and Stockton before joining Chilton Academy in 2014. I have taught at Chilton Academy since then mainly working in Key Stage Two. After joining Chilton, I was given responsibility for leading PE and I am really passionate about how sport, fitness and active lives are really important for all people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing. I have recently also taken on responsibility for Computing, which is a subject that I have led in the past and Music which is a new challenge for me to lead but one that I am really enthusiastic about. I am currently completing a National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership as I look to further develop my leadership within school.

I am originally from Leicestershire, however moved to Durham to live with my wife, who is from the area. We met while at university in Ambleside and got married in 2012 as my wife is also a teacher. We have two children, Megan and William, who attend the local primary school in the village we live in. They both love attending the local Taekwondo club and completing Junior Parkruns.

I am really enthusiastic about the future at Chilton Academy and being part of educating and shaping the futures of the children in the local community.
